What a stunning choice we made when we selected Jo VonRue for our son’s 2016 wedding ceremony. Jo was serving as ministerial intern for our UU congregation in Binghamton, NY, when our planning began. There was no hesitation in our minds when our full-time minister suggested Jo be our officiant, as he would not be available due to a prior commitment.
Jo met with the engaged couple and had them complete a questionnaire to help her get to know them better (and not incidentally for them to learn more about one another) and to aid her in planning the ceremony. My son later told me that both he and his lovely bride had immediate, good feelings about Jo’s involvement and for the ceremony she would design. I know that feeling…as she has the knack of listening intently and ‘hearing’ you clearly.
The couple had spent some time coming up with some ideas of the verbiage, but Jo helped them to see that designing the language was her task and when she forwarded the planned ceremony…they were thrilled with what she had devised. It was warm, very personal, and momentous all at the same time. It was perfect!
We simply could not have been more pleased to have this lovely young woman help our son Robb and his bride Renee begin their lives together.
